What is chlorinated rubber?
An odorless, pale yellow resin prepared by adding up to 65% chlorine to an elastomer, such as natural rubber, butyl rubber, or styrene-butadiene. Chlorinated rubber produces a hard tough, glossy film. It is used primarily in the for paints, varnishes, adhesives, inks and paper coatings. Chlorinated rubber is also used for waterproof paints on floors and swimming pools. It is very resistant to chemicals and moisture.
Chlorinated Rubber in Paint:
Chlorinated Rubber Base Paint is compounded from plasticised, chlorinated rubber and specially selected pigments. It is far more impermeable to water and water vapours than any oil or varnish-based paint. Therefore, it makes metal surfaces corrosion resistant.
Chlorinated Rubber gives the coatings the following properties:
- weather-fastness
- water-fastness
- insulation
- non-inflammability
- chemical resistance
- acid resistance
- alkali resistance
- anticorrosion
- mould proof
- increasing the adhesiveness and shock strength of the coatings.
Chlorinated rubber is compatible with various resins & plasticizer & has good adhesion on various substrates.
